Crafting a clever in-store display
IKO came to us with a challenge: to build an in-store display that redefined how their literature and product were displayed, and that could be used both for business-to-consumer and business-to-business targets. A lot of other shingle companies were using the same old display materials, and IKO asked us to zag instead of zig with a display that became a learning center that could showcase multiple products in multiple ways. Whether it was a physical sample, product literature, digital literature, or a sample kit, this display had to have a place for them all.
Mighty and modular store display design
We decided to go modular with the design, knowing that this display had to serve so many purposes. We created custom shelves and walls that could be slid neatly away when not in use, tapping in to conscious design systems. We built the unit out of durable metals to both make it sturdy enough to house rough shingle samples, and as a tip of the hat to the roughness of the product and its environment.
Time for some interactive visual merchandising
The final step in our learning center was adding interactivity to make it…well, a place to learn! Besides giving people a sample of IKO’s shingles in their hands, we also wanted them to see what it would look like in practice. It’s one thing to see a solo shingle on a backdrop, but it’s another thing entirely to imagine what it would look like covering an entire roof. Or a mansard roof. Or a pitched roof. We built interactive screens into the modular display unit loaded with virtual demos so both consumers and contractors could see exactly what these shingles looked like, felt like and could do.
