An interactive brand environment to incentivize trialing.
Nike’s Adapt BB sneaker was the first self-lacing basketball shoe. Naturally, their retail merchandising was all about trialing and interactivity, because who doesn’t want to try on a self-lacing future shoe? So, we got to work turning the back room of House of Hoops into a futuristic sneaker testing lab.
Retail experience design fit for the future.
The retail environment production started with a floor-to-ceiling vinyl wrap to create a Tron-esque grid. To keep the experience immersive, we only allowed three ‘test subjects’ in at a time so they could really take their time with the shoe. Test subjects were greeted by our Nike Lab Techs, in custom-designed lab coats, who gave a crash-course on how the shoes worked.
The details that brought the environmental graphic design to life.
To make it even more personal, we broadcast the names of our intrepid future travelers on a custom-created scrolling leader board. We used clean, minimalist propping and lighting to bring the future to House of Hoops. We also sent all of our test subjects home with custom-designed patches featuring the Adapt shoe. The future looks bright.
